  1. I believe i may have seen that tank in person very recently cookie. I feel the centre structure with all the corals would look better in my tank.
  2. Outstanding Joeblog. Trust the Americans they do build things bigger than everyone else. That is one fantastic fishtank. Thanks for posting the picks for us all to see.

    Amazon Tank

Again I say Fantastic Ian. You guys have set the bar very high that tank is out of this world. The CO2 and extra light have boosted the plant growth immensely And the tank looks like a piece of the Amazon for sure. Actually photo taking ability is pretty good as well
  4. Good score slappers. I have just got a fluro actinic 4foot. Not quite what i want but will do for now. Wont use it all night just in the morning and one hour after the halides go out.
  5. Thats it alright Chimera
  6. Yea i agree the blue lights are cool. On ebay they are selling LEDs that you can either mount in the water or shine down from the top. I think some guy has put these together at home. Not very expensive either just a long way away. England.
  7. I would like to set up a night light for my tank. I see on ebay those moonlight blue lights that look quite cool can we get them here. Some are LEDs and others look like a fluorescent tube. What are you guys using. My halides are on eight hours a day so when they are off the tank is quite dark. Any suggestions?
  8. Hey Mitch i will have 40 ltrs of fresh Taranaki sea water please. Always wanted to be a Fireman so can join your Brigade.
  9. Awesome Tony. If the tank is half as good as the cabinet then it will be a good one

    New Flow

I know what you are saying Mitch like you I have put the same pump in as well. Great pump quiet as but I have to reduce the flow into my tank so the sump does not drain. Half day wasted and not happy because I cannot use the pump to it’s full potential.

Thanks for the camera tips Chimera. Will try some of those on my camera. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC FX2 suppose to be a reasonable camera so expect better photo quality than i am getting. I suspect i need to take a lot more photos and experiment a bit more. Good tradesman never blames his tools
  12. I can see a need to convert the swimming pool to salt water in the near future

    One year on

Looking good Sharkey. I like the before and after photos will take a few more pictures of mine and hope the change is as good as yours over time.
  14. Good question I have done water changes straight from the tap using warm water for years with no ill effects. But i do squirt some stress coat in for good measure. My tank with clown loaches and head standers loved the 30% water changes every three weeks. Well they showed better colour anyway. But on saying that i think Discus should have the water conditioned first.

One thing im sure that is not lacking is photographic quality. Your photos are so clear and crisp. Actually the tank is the same clear and crisp. Like the others have said things are growing so the light must be reasonable.

    Amazon Tank

Fantastic freshwest and thanks for the updated photo. Most people have trouble growing plants i think you will have trouble slowing them down. Love to see the odd red cplour plant against the greenery as well. What fish are you using to keep back any algae that may be growing.

    New Tank!

    Looks great Wasp
  18. According to the book i have in nature they feed off parasites from other fish. I have one of these shrimp as well but like yours he stays inside the rocks.
  19. Maybe that is his camouflage the back half for the inside of the cave and the front half for the surrounding rock. One of those will be my next fish just one colour will do though.

    Welcome Back

Welcome back MIAs no court martial we promise
  21. Hey Caper either way something was made in the end right
  22. I forgot to add that thanks to Mitch i converted to Marine and now will be always looking in my wallet
  23. New to the game but from what i have seen twenty to twenty five dollars is the going rate for small frags. These are great for someone just starting who is still learning and wants to try keeping hard corals.
  24. Thanks for the comments guys The big thing on the right is one of Mitchs magic mushrooms. That good old naki water with all the iron in must be doing it. I have two torch corals at the moment and two brain corals plus two frags of hard coral so still have a long way to go before the tank is complete. Also have plenty of apistasia what a pain in the butt that stuff is to keep down. The cabinet is solid remu i had made by a local kitchen maker who sadly passed away a few years ago. Would not like to price one these days. Anyway i have been in the fish hobby for a long time now so felt i deserved a nice piece of furniture as well as the tank to go in my lounge.
  25. Im sure we have more but three that i know of. Here is a picture of my freshwater setup that i converted to marine. Sump is second hand so someone may recognise it
