i cleaned my filter (canister type) today the same as always done, when i reattached it to the pipes so the water can flow back through it again the water in not syphioning back through it. the filter is working but no water is going in or out, any help would be great. its a fluval 403, about one and half year old

gatito.descarado what we do in just use water out of the tap warm of course. we feed them in a storage cube type thing. I hand feed them the banana. they just eat it. if you are feeding them in another container you can drop it in there for them to eat. we cut it up into peices. they won't eat a whole one. maybe two or three slices. the local kindergarten and pre school do the same thing with theirs. ours are ten years old.

have you tried putting those calcium blocks in the tank? also you can float those things birds sharpen their beaks on in the tank. turtles also need greens such as, celery, carrots and corgettes, they love bananas as well. you can float a carrot and they can chase it around the tank. take it out before it gets manky.

How often do you feed your turtles and what do you feed them. if they get fat they have trouble getting their necks back in. do they get veg as well as meat and turtle food?. we feed ours out of the main tank in another container to contain the mess they make of the tank.

my red fin shark has been eating everything else in the tank. we got down to four fish in our four footer last week, shark had to go on holiday :evil:

i forgot to say you have to put water in the container you feed them in as they eat in the water.

apparently baby turtles can be fed several times a day untill they grow into adults. when they are adults they can be fed every second day etc. if females they tend to go into a feeding mode when they are about to lay eggs and can not get enough food. when we feed ours we feed them in a seperate container as they tend to wee and poop around this time. this also cuts down the amount of times you need to change their water. you can buy dried fish from vets and pet shops that has calcuim in it to help strengthen their shells. we have two turtles at my work who are ten years old and huge females. they also like bananas cut up. this is when it is good to feed them in a seperate container. you can also put a carrot in their tank and they can chase it around and eat it. take it out if it is starting to go yucky.
