Why bother will the CO2 from a DIY drop pH that much nocte?
Will mean that your H20 will be saturated (relatively) when the lights come on.

When are you coming up?
If you want you can come and have a look at my FX% and other filtration and that might help you make up your mind.
i can also give you some "used and dirty" filter wool if you want, just bring abucket with lid and you can have as much as you want...lol.
You can have a look at a few fish as well ...or not but generally if you are stocking slowly and lightly then I agree with David ...easy as she goes and youshould have no probs especially if you use the filter/water gravel from you "set up" tank.
Let me know

take "skin"(silverside) off of a back steak:
1) then cover in olive mix (large jar of pitted olived blended to a fine paste with 100 ml of olive oil, garlic rosemary and thyme salt and pepper) allow to marinate in fridge for 24 hours at least
Seal all sides on hot plate then cook each side for ten mins Approx with lid of BBQ down
(20 mins total cook time) rest and serve with salad or seasonal veggies
2) lay rashers of streaky bacon out flat. place layers of mushrooms/peppers/onion on bacon and back steak on top of that roll until bacon encases steak then cook in hot BBQ with lid down 10-15 min approx turning once or twice
3) smear with whole grain mustard cook as above

Not all africans are the same
you generally need to decide on if you are keeping lake ( and then which lake) or riverine fish
some of the riverine fish are more suited to a tank your size but so also are some of the smaller lake fish.
once you have decided that you can then look at water chemisty most of which can be dictacted by the substrate and background and filter contents.
For example instead of silca sand you may choose coral sand or a mix of both to change your water pH and hardness.
In a 90l tank you could consider such diverse fish as kribs ( many types now available here) Dwarf cichlids ( apistos are most common), lumpheads or even some of the lamp., neolamp., or julidochromis species available depending on budget.
This may mean you can even keep some of your plants
