  1. I cut a stalk of Broccoli down the middle( no head) and leave that in for days without issue as well. It doesn't breakdown mushy as quick as the courgette and my vege plecs hoover it up
  2. Old Nimbo Saying!- 'good things happen to those who lay and wait'
  3. They look like they have huge mouths though.. Big enough to take 6cm electra-Bugger! Firenz is that a red empress in the bottom photo Lonely boy-waiting,waiting.......still waiting
  4. Yeah Ryan, these guys are only a few months old. My Kandango's didn't deepen out till a year or more
  5. I'm thinking that's all good. I've never had big spikes in ammonia etc in setting up an African tank. Always put it down too the fact that the Malawi's aren't big 'pooers'. Not sure if that's right ort not- someone else probably has a more scientific reason.
  6. Hey Nimbo...... Yeah I love my Fusco too. He's about 20cm now. Hope you do better with your girl, mine got nailed by him. She was too big for any of the other tanks to hold( tried and she ate some juvi peacocks). By the time I rigged up a home it was too late for her. last shot -The Giraffe keeps him in good colour. Cheers!
  7. The only issue I remember was that hollywoods Mt eden put their's in with young Fryeri and young lithobates-Duh! Here are some more recent pics. Boy and Girls, what do you think? Note spots on females, also the girls are in with young fryeri girls and bodyshape is definitely different. Cheers! Andrew If there is something fishy about them maybe it's because they're fish LOL.

  9. Definitely a few of us around mate. Haul up a 20kg 'kingy' no probs then mourn the loss of a 2cm fish in our tanks. Go figure!
  10. Welcome Kezza- That setup will look great. look forward to seeing it progress.
  11. Hey Keeza- nice snapper-Soft plastics? Seems to be a few around or coming up a bit. Best kept secret is Animal shack out in Pukekohe- always seems to have a few nice Africans, so worth a drive.
  12. I have a trio of them. This shot of young male about 3 months old, so he's beefed up a bit. As in the name the blue is more azure compared to fryeri and more rounded Copadichromis shape They're going into breeding once a holding dragonsblood has freed up a tank. They have spawned already but she didn't go term, so hoping she does better. if not have mocked up a egg tumbler.
  13. Cool Fish! Still unidentified accoeding to planet catfish eh! Looks a lot like my favourite- L134. leopard frog mouth. 134 is lot creamier but have seen very clean specimens on sites befor. Chances that we'll see them here is slim. they are getting hard to get anywhere now, a few in Aussie though. If you like that pattern- I know there are some L400's here and there are great.'>www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=213. 134 is lot creamier but have seen very clean specimens on sites befor. 14. I have a 7cm Chilumba and he's slow to colour up. I had the same with my Maisoni Male, he wasn't really dominated but quite shy and nervous, similar in behaviour to the Chilumba and both small peacocks. Looking forward to Chilumba when he gets bigger. The Maisoni looks great now. Coincidently the Chilumba is in with a same size Baenschi male and females and is more dominant than they are...for the time being. Have there been threads where people have listed the hierachy of their peacock/hap tanks? Be interesting.
  15. Unfortunately they're probably Kids that need a beating.
  16. Yeah! as above. Not Ideal for Discus as it stands. I agree with Snookie, your Boesmani would love some company, or continue with your more agressive SA cichkids.
  17. Thanks both for prompt replies. Cheers! davidb for link, am checking it out now .... oops, here come the boss!.
  18. I have a number of these guys and looking for more detailed info on breeding. Link or personal experience- any info gratefully received. Currently have 20+ in a AR620 which I've planted up with Val, Cabomba and some Jave Moss. Only tankmates are some juvi hypancistrus on the bottom. Cheers! Andrew
  19. Hey Matt For the time I've kept fish I've come to realise that they are more intelligent than most people give them credit. Recognising the food container, their little performances to us and each other. Isn't it amazing that such creatures should have more going for them than the (EDIT - Al) wits( apologies to Mods) responsible for that. Karma- I wonder if as many people would feel for them should suchmisfortune come their way? I think and hope not. All the best mate.
  20. I have 4X 4ft tubes in the 5ft tank. I've played around a bit and am happy with 3X marine whites with a blue at the back. The cool whites seem to bring out colours the best, good for 'pinging' out the oranges and reds.
  21. well Done becc4! Good luck for next time, get that green water brewing!
  22. I saw these fish at Hollywood a while back and was told they weren't dyed or modified in anyway, but it seemed very likely to me that they were. Consistency from the authorities would be good. Mountain minnows- are they on 'the list'? Biosecurity? Raiding somebody over some pink fish seems excessive. I assume some more are still out there and if they are in your tank would you accept that action. Babyfood, pink danios- Personally I would rather see my government sort out the dollar and secure my mortgage rate, understand the ramifications of the Kyoto protocol. raid P labs etc etc. IMO.
  23. Nice pics chazza. watch out for those kenyi as they get older and the males go yellow as they are pretty rambunchous. The demasoni/yellow Lab mix is a nice look.
