  1. Is any keeping Copadichromis Azureus? and or breeding them?
  2. I have 6 - doing well... about 10months old.... not sure of the sex - definitely 2 males.
  3. Hi Frenchy, Can't be 100% sure but it sure looks like the Copidachromis Azureus i purchased from the LFS - went back today to see if i could find a female... seems they are mixed in with litho's not Fryeri - my mistake (DOH!!!)  Parry
  4. Thanks for the pics Frenchy - I'll go back and have another look ... Litho's have that slender look plus perhaps a yellow strip trhough the top of the dorsal fin right? Hmmm fun times in the land of African cichlids. Also be interested in your thoughts Tropheus ...
  5. Anyway back to my original question.... does anyone know where I might be able to find some females? I'd hate for the male to grow up lonely... To clarify the LFS concerned – were up front about the error in putting the 2 species in the same tank which is in their favour and its hard to get staff that sometimes have the experience to identify African cichlids and know the difference, myself being a new bee it can be a mine field out there. So is there anyone else out there keeping these that may want to sell a female…please pm me. Thanks
  6. Does anyone know where i might be able to find some females? HHF mixed theres with Scaenachromis Fryeri females both look very similar... hhmmm
  7. Thanks for the responses and I'm still looking.... As the newbie here i'd like to just say you guys are awesome.... also i should have said that i'd really like to find the orange ones instead of the yellow ones, sorry about that.  I know Jansen's Mt Eden had one ... but i've just found out it was sold.
  8. I'm trying to find some of these fish for sale, if you know of any that available could you please PM me - any help would be appreciated. Thanks Parry

    Silica Sand

Have nine left from twelve a couple have really taken off, so hopefully I’m getting it right.. Really looking forward to seeing them full size probably 10 or so months away yet I guess. Be really interested to see how you get along as well. Seems there is alot of interest in troupheus at the moment... sorry about getting off the subject. As for Silica sand yes it is the stuff at pool shops.

    Silica Sand

Silica sand is also used in pool filters / I guess my concern is if it will have a detrimental effect of fish or cause them health problems from being too fine, or takes too long to settle and clouds the tank, also from a cleaning it point of view it might be just small enough to go all the way up tank vacuum etc / its about the same as beach sand in gauge. Ryan do you have algae build up issues with your sand? and if so how do you deal with it?

    Silica Sand

Yes it's the same thing - just off the subject I notice a tropheus in your profile pic can I ask if you have some in your tank.

    Silica Sand

Hi, Can anyone tell me if they are using silica sand in any of there cichlid tanks and if so what are there thoughts. Cheers Parry
  14. Thanks for taking the time to reply, its appreciated - i am using JBL rift lake pellets at the moment, but like anything i guess there are always varing opinions on what to feed your cichlids.
  15. Can anyone tell me if New Life Spectrum brands of fish food are available in NZ? I've been reading about it at http://www.cichlid-food-canada.com/article.html
