  1. there seems to be alot of misconstrued information about mandarins, You do not need a tank atleast 200 litres, I have been keeping mine in a tank with 9 other fish of 130 litres with no refugium and it came to me with a sunken stomach, now it is fat, healthy and happy. and this is 9 months on
  2. Ill give it a try then think the missus orderd me 2 anyway
  3. I have read on a few sites that the orange one is not a carnivore like the purple. Would a purple and orange be fine in a rsm together?
  4. im also wondering the same thing I have been offered both and they are one of my favourite fish I know that the purple ones are carnivores and that the orange ones eat algae and flake etc and I know they are classed as different species but somehow I dont think it would work but hopefuly there is someone out there that has tried it
  5. did you end up getting that mc500
  6. VERY COOL get some sweet stuff in there like a cray and how wide is it? a baby stingray would be sweet!
  7. So I ran the blade down inbetwen the glass and the shim and get abou 2 thirds of the way down and think man this is so easy its taken me all of a minute! then the shim breaks same place on both sides now im stucks with a third maybe abit more of the shims going to have to slowly get those out somehow, dont think i have the balls to use a chisel and hammer YET but we will see  i think if i had the chance to do it again i could maybe get them off in one piece :-?
  8. Im going to run a blade inbetween the shim and back glass down to a certain point and then snap it off,as you can leave a bit down the bottom as it needs to sit up abit
  9. Just have to get rid of the glass shims tht hold the stock skimmer in. My mc500 just turned up today from hutt pets, joeblog has done it and im going to be doing mine tonight, without the glass shims that hold the stock piece of shit in they fit perfectly in there like they where made for it. I think itl b worth every cent plus more from what ive heard the deltec pulls out more in one day than the RSM skimmer ever did, which wouldnt be much
  10. how do you find your skimmer? mines a heap of shit so I just brought a deltec mc500 to replace it,slides right in the back like it was made for it,Wtih abit of persuasion
  11. I can give you the contact of someone in auckland if ou are really desperate?

  17. im so jelous I have been looking for a small clam for ages and you have 3! bastard
  18. pm Zaita he has some rotifers altho I have no idea how good they are he thinks they might be to big
  19. Good idea. I also have a green mandarin in a RSM which when i aquired it was skinny as a twig with a sunken in stomach.Shes now big fat and looking better than ever. Some people say that a RSM is to small to house a mandarin, but in my PERSONAL experince and not just some crap ive read of the net,An RSM is a fine candidate for a mandarin aslong as you have a healthy pod population and a mature tank. Pod population is bigger than ever and so is my mandarin, proof is in the pudding,no 2 ways about it. I will try and get some photos of her tonight 8)
  20. exposing rock covered in coralline to air does not kill it, I switch rocks between my tanks all the time that are thick with corraline and havent had any die off
  21. hey wasp your nem is doing great in my tank will get a photo tonight
  22. whoa its the mandarin police
  23. doing very well aswell thankyou! will get a pic u asap
