  1. Was Andrew sober Sunday morning? He looked a bit worse for wear when the guys left. Please remind me what I promised, I lose my memory when in the groove.
  2. I may pop in if I have the time but I am extending an invite to anyone who is interested in live music. Non stop live music Friday to Tuesday http://www.ceolaneas.org/index.php/2008-festival/festival-programme

  5. if its foam marker you can neutralise it with bleach as both marker and herbicide is acid based and designed to be neutralised with hypochloride (IE common household bleach) or any other strong alkali. Using bleach as a neutraliser does work as spray equipment has to be neutralised to keep the seals, gaskets and washers from rotting. When you have a $10 000 spray unit a set of seals can set you back $1000. Bleach and chlorine can easily be neutralised using UV radiation in under 24 hours.

    Big Tanks and MTS

I chose not to say anything previously as I am not interested in picking fights or playing clique games. Now the emotive personal abuse has ceased, here is my point. A number federation members constantly complain about not being "allowed" any more tanks, many and sometimes the same also complain about being asked to move out or cease having fish because of multiple tanks and/or large tanks. These people also ask for help to move property and have problems finding volunteers. Not everyone appreciates fish and most especially tanks and the resulting predictable damage. Lets face it, tanks damage floors you cannot escape it. All I am saying is be considerate towards others, as other people have to live there too. As for the personal abuse thanks to those who can see beyond their own selfishness. Yes I do have large tanks, I do have permanent carpet damage and will have replace the carpet before we put the house on the market when we sell. We also have to consider secondment and finding homes for large species. They are not easy to home and not everyone has a house that can take the large tanks. It is also extremely unfair and unethical to move a fish the size of a family pooch more than is absolutely necessary.
  7. There are many people out there who have big tanks, there are also many people out there who should not have big tanks. Here are some basic points that people need to consider. Are you responsible for the power bill? Do you own the property? Does anyone else live in the house? Do you intend to move more than once a decade? Are you a child of the household? Do you have a home for your xos fish if you can no longer keep them? It is important to think about other people, big tanks may be pretty but they are space and resource hungry. They can overpower rooms and leave little or no living space. If you dont own the property consider just how much the owner and/or flatmates appreciate your efforts. It is completely unreasonable to expect parents and landlords to risk their house and investment to a large fish tank when they dont want them there. Be considerate. This is a polite way of saying dont get big tanks until you own your own home.
  8. which reminds me I have to change the date of the BBQ at my place, to the 24th.
  9. I have a 6ft cool white light and a 4 ft 8500 kelvin going 24/7 over the tank, no CO2. Additives used are in this order. 1. wonder-gro Others can tell you as to the success of this.

    A space issue

I have kept multiple bettas together but I wouldnt consider anything less than 2 feet per fish and a fair amount of plant cover
  11. Jim R - correct me if I am wrong, you mean the reserve by the B&B? Personally I would suggest Waitahanui north carpark or Hawkers Alley.
  12. a warts and all taken about 5 minutes ago
  13. Dalton International might have them. IIRC Shoof International used to sell supplies, if in doubt, Livestock Improvement might sell you some, or Ambreed or even your local large animal vet. They are commonly called shoulder length examination gloves - also handy for broken arms and wrists and dirty work. http://www.shoof.co.nz/nzcatalogue/page_18.pdf Krutex Economy (Green) 10-pack 207 465 $6.95 100-pack 208 966 $24.95 Although these are the lowest cost in the range, they are highly reliable gloves at a very good price. Very good sensitivity. Length 95cm. thats from Shoof, who do sell to the public btw.
