I have a tank with 3 clown, a RT shark and a bristlenosed Plecostumus. I recently got 3 Swords. One female sword is showing signs of Ick. I am hestitant to treat the tank as there are so many scaleless fish in there. Would salt baths on the affected fish help?. if not want can anyone suggest as a safe alternative to put in the tank. And yes I know how contagicous this is.

Looks very similar to a goldfish lump i had in my childhood.. we tried everything... it just grew till it started weighing the goldfish down.. A family friend said it was a type of tumor... - heh my .0002 cents

i too have struggled with this... for months.. only things that worked: 1.diatom filter (very hard to attain) 2. Daphina (works a miracle. Place in breeding set for a few days) excess nutrients in the water helps it .. i found lighter feeding helped slightly

I have a tank, stand and hood set up which i brought less than 6 months ago... its one brought out by masterpet with 2 lights in the hood....on the top is a keypad with you can set the timer for the lights and also on and off. However it has just stopped working... the digital interface is still glowwing and i can set the timer but the lights dont glow and they are brand new coz I fought one of them was the problem in the beginning.. so it seems like its a connection or a fuse or something... WHo do I go to to fix this.. ring an electrican or what?.. i could prolly fix it myself I just dont like electricity and water

Pet shops diff more expensive... my Mum just brought me a 59cm Aqua glow and it cost 21.95 I brought another from a diff pet shop same one and it was 17.95 The store in Petone is great for prices if you can get there which I couldnt these times

Try a couple of Zebra Dainos in the tank they are really hardy... If you can borrow some filter media or gravel off an established tank that will help speed things up a bit...(a good pet shop could help). But this can also introduce disease so be careful where you get it from. Testing kits for ammonia and Nitrites are VERY useful in this time period

Our Senior Biology class keeps in a tank in our bio lab.. speaking of which I wonder who's feeding em ? :-? I offered...... So we mightnt have any next year.. I'm sure the teacher would have taken care of em..

Aj got it spot on.. yeah its kinda behind.. the burger palace.. I dont no L hutt very well.. but that place always help me find it.. The fish have slipped a bit... however they make it up in accessories and quite often they have discus at good prices for shops I get my $16 clowns there , if you like neons you can get 10 for $15 .. their fighters 2 weeks ago.. they had about 6 at $10 each.... They had a kribendreous that I was tempted to get if my tank was overstocked..

A good shop I have found in WGTN well not wgtn is one is in lower hutt.. by the famous red burger shop, kinda in a street behind it... it is WELL stocked and competive prices

Hes a lot more perky this morning.. swimming around the breeding net.. trying to get out with the other fish........ I would like to keep him in their for atleast a week

24 hrs later he is still alive, eating and swimming a bit... but resting in the bottum of the breeding cage often...... Howqever I am histant to add salt to the water because of the 4 clowns in there... would a salt dip help at all?

I came home today to see my fancy guppy with half a tail.... it is a depresssing sight.. feel so sorry for it and other fish r hassleing it so i put in a breeding net... it can swim.. but its lying on the bottum... does it hae much hope?... or shall i end its misery? ..... any ideas wot to do with the poor guy...

Thanks Benny I always thought, salt in with CLowns for a long period of time was a no no no... I might start now..... I do with my other fish

Few months ago fins and fangs in wgtn had some that were like fully 20cm big... mind u they were 65 bucks each.. they went pretty quick...... I prefer them smaller.. much much cuter

be VERY careful treating clowns for anything!. they have no scales and a lot of treatments that are fine for other fish will kill them... salt would prolly be your best option. It has been well documented in the US that clowns are VERY prone to ICK... infact most LFS give ick treatment free with the c loach

I agree with you Ira, theres like nowhere in wgtn that sells saltwater equipment let alone fish... IF i ever wanted to do (which i doubt i wil) I would prolly have to get them ordered from AKL. However I was in Whangarei last week and they had lots of marien fish and stuf.. not fair as wgtn is ssoo much bigger than there and yeah

Well my water is now clear, thanks to som,e daphina from Caryl and a breeding cage.... Thanks for sticking with me I've made sure I have have several large containers of Daphina for food and if this happens again.

I have been told many extremely different answers about frozens foods nutritional content, so how nutrious is it?. ALL my fish love the "Tropical Tucker" which I give them once a week.. Also what veges are suitable (neons,clowns,RT Shark, Bristlenose, Swords,guppies) So far I feed them cucumber,zuchinni any other ideas.. for lettuce do they eat fancy frilly lettuce?
