    ROYAL PANAQUE

My royal just in the last two days has stopped hiding in his usual spot and started sitting in the front of the tank. He doesnt look too good as his belly is slightly sunken and his eyes look a bit pale. He isnt touching the cucumber i leave in the tank over night but i cant find the spirulina discs i put in at night so hopefully hes still eating. I havent done anything to the tank that i dont normally do when changing water etc, all other fish are happy as. Temp is about 27*C. Has anyone had the same thing happen or does anybody know what could be wrong? Cheers for any advice

  4. Makes ya sick doesnt it,cheers for the link mate...i think haha
  5. I havent got an account for hosting pics and cant really be bothered starting one, but if someone wants to PM me their email or something i can send a pic or two (if i can find them) and then they can post them here if they want. I think itd would be around the 15-20cm mark now. Majority of the royals are just the standard royals, goldline, or the papas. The goldlines are awesome looking fish and they all look awesome when the start putting some size on
  6. I know of one but its not for sale sorry...so there may be others around
  7. A two foot aro in a 3 foot deep tank...argh
  8. ok woops i knew there was another thread and i jus found it. but if anyone has anything to add go ahead. Also do many people on this site have them and breed them...looks like they are pretty popular
  9. Hey all Just wanting some advice on breeding these guys. I have a few in a heavily planted tank and have had a few fry but just wanting to know how i would go about getting them to breed so i can be more successful with my fry numbers. If anyone has any tips or has a link to another past thread it would be much appreciated, cheers

    Stupid power cut

Man sounds like quite a few have had the same problem. I had a gas heater on full all day trying to keep the heat up but i guess coz the filters wernt goin the heat didnt circulate very well. heated water on the bbq and drained buckets from the tank which i poured back in trying to get oxygen back in there. ddnt do much Tank waters gone all cloudy on one tank but the fish seem happy enough at the mo. Just freakin out mainly because the fish i have wouldnt be the easiest to replace. Diddnt have the ornate that long but man they are rad fish, the oddballs are definatley starting to take over in my tanks Lost my male pantadon aswell...crud. Tried the whole contents thing but they dont cover livestock as stated before....double crud! Sorry to hear of others losing there pets

    Stupid power cut

Ha yeah by the time i got round to ringing all the rental places they had none left. Sourced a battery converter but was still a bit late Still, glad my other fish are still moving
  13. Anyone out there lose fish through not having power due to that wicked storm last night? I know people that lost roofs and serious things like that so I'm pretty lucky really but... Had no power here for around 27 hours, tried my best but ended up losing my ornate bichir (which i had for a whopping 3 days). Makes me so damn angry  but anyway... Just wanted to know if anyone else out there had trouble with their tanks or lost any fish due to that thumper of a storm
  14. Yeah not cool aye Afrikan, stupid thing is to, is that its so easily avoided. With bigger fish like ya knives and things they can and do look even more impressive by themselves coz they have nothing else to fight with which causes damage and scarring, and then there is definately no chance of other fish getting stuck in gaping mouths. Also found they are calmer aswell without little fish (especially catfish) darting around their tank but hey its your tank do what you like the look of and what works for you Big synos are rad and are great for cleaning up messy scraps from knives
  15. I wouldnt think hoplos would be a good choice. I once saw a tank in a pet shop with dats and hoplos for sale in the same tank. One of the dats had half swallowed a hoplo ( i say half as the hoplos pectoral spines had pierced and were stuck clean through either side of the dats face ) and i have no idea how they would have got it out without seriously injuring one of them So to be ont the safe side make sure the cat is way too big to fit in its mouth
  16. HAHA NOPE! Actually, every now and then, my whiptail fry proved that. Still waiting for a male snowball though...oneday maybe
  17. Just thought I'd say that female hypans can and do claim a cave sometimes and will fan aswell, so dont lose hope yet. The belly thing doesn't always work either but yeah there are a hell of a lot of males around. I don't see how the importers can hold onto all the females either when unsexable fish are being sold, prob just a matter of time before the smaller ones around become mature and a few females pop up. Look on the bright side haha Nice pics too mate
  18. Yeah thats what i was thinking too but its hard enough finding one decent sized eel never mind a couple haha. Would tyre tracks be alright together with them? just as hard finding those aswell though :-?
  19. Hey all just wanting to know if anyone has kept large fire eels (say about 30cm) together and how have they been? what size tank they were in etc, I have had a large and small together before with no probs but kinda wanna check before putting larger ones with each other Thanks
  20. Guess you better put some pics up then aye haha
  21. When i used to keep them the ones i saw giving birth would pop out quite quickly in a little ball then straighten out and swim off
  22. I guess taking good pics is harder than breeding fancy plecs aye dude haha...good stuff mate
  23. Awesome pics mate, very cool
  24. I have a couple and they are very easy to look after, they dont bother anything, just gota make sure they are getting enough food and they really like their live food. Thinking about it feeding times probably the only time they really move but have found mine have clicked on to the fact that when i walk in the room they are going to get fed so start pacing the tank...cool fish
  25. Yeah im with hummingbird, I had the same problem for ages then added another filter and did less frequent water changes and the green water was gone within a few days, worked for me anyway
