  1. Omg the pic fits, does it automatically resize of something???????????
  2. OK this is the tv, I was think about putting the filter and pumps, heaters etc behind the side where the controls are, was wanting to use river stones as gravel and real plants,
  3. ok, unfortunately the glass was broken when the insides were removed, So using the old tube is not an option. I will post a pic of the tv when I take one, am quite keen on the acrylic because I loved the idea of the tube rounding out to imitate the old tv. Will be using it for tropicals so need ideas what will go well with each other and things I can get easily due to the fact I live VERY rurally. It going to be approx 105litres so how many can I have, also want to use an UGF should I use a conventional internal one as well??
  4. Love the idea of acrylic, because it could be made to bulge out a wee bit the way the old TV tube did, is it as safe and reliable as glass?? I imagine it would be cheaper??
  5. OK seriously just out the blue a couple of hours ago, my hubby who has never shown an interest before (by the way) turned around and said to me,........"why dont we take the guts out that that old tv that we never got around to throwing out and turn it into a tropical fishtank??"" OMG So surprised!!!!! So before he losses interest and changes his mind What would we need to do? IS it a good place to keep them?? I sized out the tank we would need to put into it........(70lX35dX45h) so where would be the best one to get custom made?? Its the really old style of tv with a great big box around it and the place for a huge speaker on the bottom, we would need to turn this into a very strong re-inforced shelf. Also have never kept anything more challanging than Goldies before so what would be the right kind of fish to get started???? Need as much advice as you all feel like giving
  6. One of my goldfish did this, so check the water and do regular partial changes melafix wont hurt at all, um not sure what else to add but I am sure caryl will be along soon and she is very clever about this sort of thing. Mine had a rather large blister that they thought might have been from an injury due to the fact it was only on one side?
  7. Cool thanks for that as I have often wondered myself, I guess mine is a bit to thin?!
  8. eeww, creepy looking things!!!

    Oh NO!!

Update, Thank you all for your help, I have been doing partial changes everyday and although "goldie" is still alive and the blister and redness is gone he still isnt himself, he seems to be hanging around the bottom of the tank under the filter actually and a faint of a white sheen all over him. I have recently added melafix and still doing the changes, water ph is fine 7.5. And kids are banned from even looking at my tank at the moment?! Any other ideas??

    Oh NO!!

Ok my daughters wee goldfish is sick, last week we lost our blackmoor, entirely due to my son trying to catch it to show a wee friend while I was outside. However since then for the past couple of days I have noticed our fantail hanging out at the top of the tank, (I know, not good). Have checked the water and the ph was slightly high, so I have vaccuumed and done a partial water change, and now goldie is swimming around no worries, however he now has what appears to be a blister type growth near his gill and redness all aorund the gill as well. His food was recently changed but have noticed no problems with his eating or toileting?? ANY IDEAS?? Kids would be shattered to lose another
  15. Loving that everyone is sharing a bit about themselves, this is perhaps the friendliest site I have ever been to!! By the way you haven't lived until you have eaten a Crofters Black Forest Chocolate Cheesecake..............Heaven
  16. The bright orange and green decorations are fake corals, my kids and fish love them!!!! And I think they bring character to the tank!!!!! On a sadder note, we had our first fishy fatality last week, kids were shattered, but such as life. Thank you all for your positive comments,I have now purchased a real plant for the tank and another "bright" purple fake coral, better and brighter than ever. And I will keep practising taking photos, seems really difficult though Oh well will keep trying
