Outdoor Tropicals - Opinions Please

Featured Replies

I have just got on to a supplier who brreds tropicals in outdoor ponds (mainly livebearers, barbs, angels etc) Has anyone had experience with these fish. Opinions appreciated before I buy.

Most fish raised in outdoor ponds are very good. Their colours are very strong and the fish are big. I don't know what happens to the colurs once they are put into an indoor tank, but they are excellent to start with.

Yes I really wanted to know how the fish are when released into the aquarium. Do they react well to the change in conditions.

I have not heard of them being a problem. Ones bred outside are bigger and often more colourful (possibly hardier too).

Barbs and guppies are good to try outside yourself in summer. I have always meant to give rosy barbs a go. Perhaps next summer...
