Kribensis getting beaten up.

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

So I have a pair of kribensis, they have bred once, but the fry got eaten by the other fish. They haven't bred since and in fact the female is beating the male up, he's pale, got torn fins, and hides. Every time she sees him she attacks him. Its a 240L with plenty of hiding spaces.

Any idea on why she is acting this way? Do I need to separate them?

Possibly but can't see any. Last time she laid eggs, they were in a flower pot and she hid in there for days and didn't leave, but she is still swimming around the tank at the moment.

If they have spawned and she iis doing that to him already it Willonly get worse once they are free swimming. You need to remove him before she kills him which she is likely to do. Only one parent can easily raise the fry even in a Community tank.

hey zee,

I was told to get a much bigger male then female, this definitely did the trick, she still has a go at him but he just shrugs her off. :cofn:

Nothing can touch the fry when he is around.
