Ghost Shrimp

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was put on to this forum by another NZ aquarist on another board.

I've been asking around various pet stores (Hollywood Fish Farm, Jansens, Pet Corner, Bird Barn Pets) after freshwater shrimp for aquaria, and none stock them.. HWFF even said they were illegal to sell?!

Does anyone know the truth of the matter?

Thanks for any info,

Brett C

I don't think they're a legal import. But, you can catch some in streams yourself if you want. I've never been able to find any, but I've probably been looking in the wrong place.:)

Now, if you're thinking about the dozen varieties of uber algae eater shrimp you can get in the US...Not gonna happen.:(

hey!! that reminds me....lol

i said a while back that i would go and see if they are still in the waiphetu streem.....and yet i still havent....lol

but anyway i will go soon and ill let u pps kno if they are there

:) Newt :)

i live up in east auckland and i kno a great little place to catch them all you need is a nice largeish fish net, the type one would use in a large aquaruim and a fast hand, takes a while to get a few tho
