For those who wanted to know how fish prices compared, here are some from one outlet in England.

NOTE THEY ARE IN POUNDS! Do your own conversion but I will do one for you to start. NZ$1 = 0.39GBP

neons 1.20 or 5 for 5 pounds, or 10 for 9.50, or 20 for 17 pounds.

This is $3.10 each, or 5 $12.80 , or 10 for $24.30, or 20 for $43.50. If my math is correct (which I doubt as I am useless at math) they work out at $2.10 each if you get 20.

Remember to take into account that wages are substantially higher.

yes. that, and price parity and interest rate parity. I did an entire finance paper at massey based only on this topic! best paper ever.

lol as are other costs - houses, food, power (18p per kwH opposed to 18c)

Their wages would need to be higher as the cost of fresh food over there was very high!

You are dead right Caryl - I was shocked when I went back last Christmas.

The torpedo barb prices are mad,but the rest are pretty cheap compared to what we pay in Ireland!!

Have done one fish buying trip over on the ferry,3 of us bought back 293 fish.Planning another one for the opening of the fish shed this summer.A lot of us buy our dry goods online from over there, for example, can get a FX5 shipped here for about 190 euro,my LFS has them for 495e!!

When I started out again 3years ago,I was conned into 25 euro each for 3 C.sterbai, won't happen again!!!
