sharn
that pacu will be 60cm in no time and can bust tanks like nothing ive heard about (heard of em going thru 10mm glass no sweat). your aro will also get around 60cm but apparently they can get much bigger pacu are fast fish (scare a 60cm one and see him fly lol) and they get nippy sometimes, i have seen them in with aros and it was fine but IMO aros shouldnt have fish below them as that can cause drop eye which isnt that nice. it can work but its probably not best for the fish. at 15cm your aro is still very very young, they only come out of their parents (fathers?) mouth a little smaller so he is probably best to be left alone for a bit till he gets a bit bigger and tougher. http://images.google.co.nz/images?q=pac ... rch+Images thats some pics of pacu- see how big those wild ones are? A.PROPHECY
and the drop eye thing , ive herd most captive bred aros get drop eye, so im thinkn hes bound to get it so0ner or later anyway so i will end up havn tank mates for him no mater what i rekon  just gota find a good combo for him
sharn
they get smaller than aros but because they use all tank levels they require more swimming space. im no expert on aros but youd probably want something slowish, that gets large and is very placid. id imagine with pacu being so fast your aro would be like 'heck, hes fast and big, better keep an eye on him' i wonder if perhaps geos might be ok? i have no idea on if its common in captive bred aros or not- mystic will chime in on that one no doubt  i say ditch glass tanks and go wood and perspex, that way you can have a 10,000L for all the monsters *dreams away*

A.PROPHECY
.... long story short - I wouldnt do it, Pacu can rip an Aro to bits if it gets in its way .... ) i just thort it might be ok coz at auckland zoo they have 4 large pacus and aro in a tank but there aro is masive compared
Luke*
*drools*....10 000L.. ughh (Homer Simpson sounds) Aros seem to go well with giant gouramies. If they can break 10ml tanks easily, wouldn't that mean no one would have them? Not a lot of ppl have tanks over 10ml thick. Yea about the splashing, even my 15cm discus send water flying and that's just through the gap between the side glass and the cover glass of the tank. A.PROPHECY
haha wel my lfs let me have there pacu but they said i have to catch if i want it lol ! with one flick of his tail! ,i was totaly soaked! lol good fun tho
sharn
a 1000L tank shouldnt have 10mm glass and a pacu shouldnt be in one much smaller so no probs  pacu can break open brazil nuts in the wild with those freaky teeth, imagine what they can do to precious aro skin if they want the zoo was the scenario i had seen where they seemed to be ok, those pacu were zipping and nipping all over the place though. giant gourami might be a good choice actually? perhaps consult an arowana forum?
