Fenriswolf
Where do I get some good, non-toxic driftwood in the Wellington region? Any ideas? :-?
suphew
The arongaronga (sp?) river is a good place, the hutt river might be a good place to look at the moment to with all the rain, but get you need to get there before all the fire wood collectors. Where in Wlg are you? there is a thing up the road from my place to catches logs etc before they get to the houses, on willowbank/middleton road between Tawa and Johnsonville, there might be some nice pieces there with the rain, the river was pretty high. jude
It should be fine - its getting a good wash and you can scrub it or boil it or pour boiling water over it. I soaked a big piece in bleach to kill any greebies then soaked it in fresh water for a while and had no problems Cheers Jude
Faran
Stop anywhere that you see a fresh, clear, running stream and have a look around. When you get it home let it dry in the sun to kill any water borne parasites or soak in bleached water. give it a good scrub and rinse and make sure it sinks before trying to put it in a tank. I'd recommend some places but I doubt you want to go driving into the middle of nowhere for a good piece of wood when Animates has them for $20.
