Nic G
We have these things we've just noticed in our tank... they are loooonng, thin, white, worm-looking things. What are they and how do we get rid of them??? :-? Thanks in advance!
sharn
do a google on 'planaria' that might be them?
Nic G
Hi sharn, Checked that out, but no, they're a lot longer and skinnier than that... microscopic looking things width wise, but very long, some about 3cm just swimming around. You have to really look to find them, they're clinging to the outside of a couple of breeding traps at the mo :-?
Ira
Yeah, that definitely sounds like planaria, Nic. About as thick as a hair and an inch or so long. Quit overfeeding and they'll go away.
Nic G
They get fed a range of foods including Nutrafin Complete Flake Mixture, Colour Enhancing Flakes, Livebearer Flakes and live brine shrimp. Not all at once of course!! Will these things hurt the fish???
Caryl
No they won't harm the fish but they do look unsightly. Feed less and vacuum the substrate well.
