Jeroen
Has anyone experience with these lights or know if they are available in New Zealand. Could be an answer to our power bills. http://www.reefonline.com.au/shop/produ ... cts_id=
wasp
Good find Jeroen, I'm going to Melbourne at Christmas, and my son in law over there is an electrician too! Think I may get a few of them. How could we find out the PAR rating of them?
Faran
I've seen similar units at the local grow shop. Asked about them but the guy behind the counter didn't know enough for me to get overly interested. Honestly forgot until now...
DiverJohn
do you want them FW or Marine?
Ira
Mitre 10 mega had some big 100 watt energy saver lights that I thought might be interesting to try. Fairly good price, $30 or something.
chimera
yeah was gonna ask if you'd had a look locally. reefonline are good but reasonably expensive i've found
Jeroen
The good thing is these are 1400K so suitable for a marine tank. I can't read the brand on the picture to see where else we can get them from. Still Aus$ 79 for a 400W compatible light and no ballast needed. Just wonder how long the last. dogmatix
i had a go with one of these but a friend of mine bought it over and by the time he got here it had smashed i was going to use it to light my sump on reverse cycle
dogmatix
I think SOG sell a similar product
pacific blue
yea the swithed on gardener do sell those exact bulbs. i hav two of them over one of my reef tanks. i cant say that they are the best lights ever invented. they have a good colour and they look bright enough but the corals dont seem to be very happy under them. the mushrooms have no colour and have shrunk away, much like my purple star polyps. My colt corals are open with polyps extended but have not growen at all since they have been under these lights. for some reason it dosent seem like the light penetrates the water very well. although some of the problem may be my water quality, but its not that bad. suphew
I'm going to be in Melborne next month (10 July) to visit a friend, am happy to bring stuff back if anyone wants to arrange for it to be delivered to his place. But don't really want to have to carry 10 skimmers through customs, so sensible please.! PM me if you want to do it.

Feelers
https://secure.sog.co.nz/store.htm is the website. If that doesnt work www.sog.co.nz They seem quite expensive, it seems that because they are for growing "illegals" theres a 25% market price increase.
