Many moons ago quinine was used to control white spot and vevet at about 30mg/litre (doesn't damage plants ) and mepacrine was used also in the control of malaria and other parasites in humans. Caryl Posted May 25, 2006 Report Share Posted May 25, 2006 Found this... Quinacrine hydrochloride is also known as Atabrine, Chinacrine and Mepacrine. This is an anti-malaria drug which is also helpful treating some types of fish parasites (malaria is a type of parasite infection in humans). Quinacrine hydrochloride is now difficult to find, even at pharmacies. Direct overhead light will inactivate quinacrine hydrochloride so it must be kept off during treatment. The light can be switched on long enough for daily observation, or simply use the ambient light in the surrounding room. Doesn't give the rate but I thought the rest of it might be useful.
