Duke
Any one know where you can get solinoid valves for top up and saltwater trasfer? I have found a soliniod valve for $58 but it has a stainless steel and brass internals. Used for irrigation on farms etc. Found a soliniod valve that will be OK but $700 was quoted. No thanks. They can be 24v or 240v as they are to be controlled by a PLC. Help?
wasp
Yes, these guys - Ascomation NZ Ltd. I'm not allowed to give phone numbers but they are in the book, otherwise drop me a pm. I don't think it will cost $700.00 but it will be more than $58.00. I bought one from them for Co2, from memory it was around $80.00. lduncan
If you're looking for something without any metallic internals, your generally looking at agressive gas/liquid types - which are always much more expensive. Or alternatively maybe a washing machine style valve? I think they are plastic coated internally? You could try www.rsnewzealand.co.nz (their prices are not particularly cheap, but sometimes they are more convenient to get stuff from than shipping from overseas) Layton

wasp
Looks like that site can do a plastic one for around $130.00 although not sure of all the specs on it such as operating pressure etc. I drive past Ascomation each day so went & asked them about it, they only stock brass & stainless, plastic would be a special order. Might be best to get one from that site once you've figured the specs you need. What's it for, anyway?
Kermit
Sorry can you please explain a bit further, as you say top up water which i assume is fresh water? but what you mean by saltwater transfer? Washing machine solinoids are plastic bodies and are cheap around $30+ trade, we sell brass solinoids at work a 1/4" will come to $70+ probably cheaper 24 and 230vac coils. Duke
I am hoping to fill a spare 20,000l water tank with saltwater and want a solinoid valve to control the water input. I am learning that this maybe not a good idea, only use 5g top-off tank and not stright from the tap in case of a stuff up where I could flood the sump with fresh water.... that would not be good. Only being lazy and not wanting to fill the top off tank. Same with the salt water option. Manual taps are best. Use a normal top off system.? Anyone have experance with this company, I email them and their respone has been great. Will design for free and recommend componets. http://www.spectrapure.com/St_alc_p1.htm
Kermit
A huh i see, well i can tell you that a solinoid valve wont work on a 5g tank as there will be very little pressure to open the solinoid, most solinoids require about 2bar give and take pressure to open them thats 20meters head of water, we sell motorised ball valves but not sure what the drive time is to open/close them i'll have a look for you are interested?
