Loopy
I have had this problem on and off for years, in many of the tanks that i have had platies in. Established tanks and new tanks. Never seems to effect other species of fish in the same tank. I treat them with parasite treatments as well as a few other treatments and they still eventually die. i mainly notice my females going really skinny. They go hollow in the stomache and will eventually just hover on the bottom of the tank until they die even though they used to be very fat, good breeders. Has anyone got any help/advise/ experience with anything like this?

alanmin4304
It could be TB?
Alan
My thoughts too. Make sure you wash your hands and arms if working in that tank, and don't let that water get in contact with any cuts or abrasions on you, humans can contract fish TB, and it is VERY hard to get rid of. JoandWilly
I've found with live bearers, that sometimes after they give birth their insides seem to collapse and they never recover, and just go do hill slowly and theres nothing you can do about it.
