Pegasus
There are a number of threads running here on Seahorses. The Search feature is inactive at the mo.. but if you look under the SW Section.. Freshwater.. or Beginners.. you should spot them easily. Bill. I would like others opinion on this set up good/bad do's donts etc as I am new to this and would welcome anyones input. thanks and have a nice day everyone
Caryl
All I know about seahorses are they are very difficult to feed unless you live on the beach with easy access to live microscopic greeblies in the seawater.
sharn
greeblies caryl? is this a real word or one of those words only caryl knows about?
Seth
I found them harder than a tropical salt tank 2 main problems 1. keeping the water cold think its not a problem just wait untill summer 2. feedind they eat frozen mysis or brine shrimp the brine shrimp isnt supposed to be a pernament food sorce tho. And they have short digestive systems meaning there supposed to be eating a lot and eating all day not easy with frozen food. And that leads to the problem of the nitrate levals etc so many water changes......... In short i had 4 of these guys they were great interesting and i loved them but after I kept it up for a year they survived but never gained condition only lost it. So i gave up and got rid of them. Need a good skimmer and either a cold basement to put the tank in or a chilller $$$$$$$$ Good luck

Caryl
"Greeblies" is a well known scientific term Sharn Do you not have greeblies in Canada Caper?
Caper
Greeblies Ah, had to google the word something to do with Star Wars???
Caryl
I don't think Star Wars has anything to do with it. Greeblies must be a colloquial word. It just means general bugs and microscopic critters.
Ruth
Interesting thread, I've been researching this topic too. Certainly alot more to it than meets the eye. Don't forget to keep us updated on what you decide.
