blindspott
I have got 3 gold fish they are all around 7 years old, and two of them have developed very interesting growths - any information at all would be extremely helpful: ABOVE : This fish I think has the most interesting growths (2 growths). The first growth: the fish has a growth that covers the majority of both eyes - it has seemed to have formed a top layer. It doesn't seem to obstruct the eye as it can move under the growth. The second growth is like a white like Boil on the forehead. The third is a small like pimple on the side of fins. ABOVE: Single growth on the top of the eye. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly helpful. I would like to know: What are they? How do/did they form? And what should I do (if anything)? Any other information would be appreciated! Caryl
I don't know too much about goldfish but I think the growths are carp pox. Common in goldfish and I don't think there is a cure. It does not hurt the fish - like warts on humans - and is contagious. Someone else may have other opinions

I'm no goldfish expert either but another option is that, judging from the body shape and fins, it's possible that there are some genetics involved. Maybe one of their parents had some 'oranda' etc in their genes and these growths are partial 'hoods'... Just a thought, Andrew.
Pegasus
Brilliant Andrew... Looking at our five you could be right. If the growth looks to be a fungus of sorts (hard to tell).. a Salt Bath wouldn't go amiss.
john1
Hi all Being a "non golfish" man, I can only make a guess. It is hard to tell if a goldfish has "just a lump" or a sort of mutation. There are so many goldfish out there with ugly lumps, bumps etc. But, apparently that is quite normal. That makes a diagnosis a bit harder. Shilo
May not help much, but take a look at these links: http://www.2cah.com/pandora/Disease.html#Growth http://www.fishpalace.org/danscomments.html#Lumps
Kellz
Looks very similar to a goldfish lump i had in my childhood.. we tried everything... it just grew till it started weighing the goldfish down.. A family friend said it was a type of tumor... - heh my .0002 cents
