the charge isnt much, i think my last 6-monthly bill was about $40. be interested to see if it changes much. will get a 200l-ish barrell for "waste" and give it to the garden / washing machine etc i think.

worst thing about paying for auckland tap water is that you cant drink it coz it tastes like waikato river / cow s**t / farm runoff / chlorine all mixed together and filtered through an old miners sock. because thats what it is :(

Have you actually measured the waste to product ratio? 15-20 is really high, I'm just thinking maybe something like you need a restrictor to increase the pressure on the membrane or something. Though, it may just be due to the water temp and how dirty it is.

Ira is correct, it should not be making that much waste. Waste should be running somewhere around 2 or 3 to 1 of good water. To achieve this you put a restrictor on the waste outlet, otherwise all your water just flushes out the waste pipe.

The people you bought it off should be able to supply the correct restrictor, but if not, Anthony Preston will. I think they're about 6 bucks. Not just any restrictor, you have to get the right one for your unit.

Cool. That's about the last piece of major equipment you need so you're now totally set up! :D

BTW that Goniopora you gave me is looking OK, still hanging in. And the sps frag is showing a few polyps :D . Couldn't get that CD to work yet but I'll try it in my sons computer when he get's off it or it isn't downloading.
