LYNDYLOO
Hi guys, I've been having a look around on TradeMe, and a guy is trying to sell a Soda Stream Machine on there with 2 bottles, he claims that his friend told him that he uses this for his fish tank, he fills the soda stream bottle with water from his fish tank, places this into the soda stream machine then presses the button 3 times then pours the water back into his tank, says he has had really good results from doing this, was wondering if anyone else out there has tried adding CO2 to their tank this way. antwan
I got a new soda stream just the other day. I think somewhere i heard that it wasn't a good idea to put fish tank water into the soda stream (not totally sure though, i would have thought it to be fine). I have put in about 750mL per day since i got it (about three days). I have heard of a lot of people using this with excellent results. Can't wait to see the results in my tank. LYNDYLOO
Hmmmm, now thats got me thinking, let me know how it goes Antwan, I wouldn't think you would use the Soda Stream for making drinks for yourself aswell as using it as a source of CO2 for your fish tank, If I was going to go this way I would get an old one and use that for my tank, the other question I have is, how do you know just how much CO2 you are adding to the tank, I spose this would show up when doing a CO2 Test? seems like a very easy way to add CO2 to your tank. Keep me posted. Lynda
alanmin4304
I have never used CO2 so I am no expert. The way you are suggesting will cause more fluctuations in CO2 levals and therefore pH, than constant injection. I use an old fashioned CO2 injection system called fish. Kim&Dan
I have no idea about how this works but it sounds like an easy and simple method. So if it does work with the Soda Stream machine, please let us know
