So is that a special species that's super blue or is it just well looked after?

It's not a rare species in the wild, it's just uncommon in the trade. It's known for it's intense blue colour, and extremely slow growth.

It's been aquacultured in the States by hobbyists, and 1" frags were selling for hundreds of USD, it is a bit more common now prices aren't quite as high (around $100 USD).
