PENEJANE
Over the christmas holidays we are going to be taking some day trips up to dunedin. I was wondering where abouts (address would be great) some good pet stores are for tropical fish. Would also like to know if there is any place/person who is selling cheap 2ft tanks these holidays? East Rd Pets is charging me $150 for a 2ft tank with internal filter and light hood. Is this worth it, or cheaper to get individual bits? Cheers
Deb
Hi Penejane! I don't seem to log in very often - hence the late reply!! I have found two very good fish shops in Dunedin ...The Pet Warehouse on cnr Manse & Stafford Streets (near The Warehouse & Speights Brewery) and the second very good shop is Pet Planet, 14 Bank St, North East Valley (opposite the gardens). In my experience both places have proved very helpful with heaps of knowledge in tropical fish. Hope this helps
PENEJANE
Thanks so much for that. If I get time and if the husband lets me I will do my best to stop by at least one of the places Cheers

Caryl
Speights Brewery is not far away from The Pet Warehouse
Snowman
$150 sounds reasonable for that setup, $50 for the tank, same for filter then light. If its new thats close to Auckland prices, depends a bit on the filter (corner filter $7 or Eheim 2010 $50-60) and light (single or twin and make). PENEJANE
The filter is a internal mechanical filter with a sponge insert. The light is in the hood unit so it is one. They sell the filters for $35 seperate on their shelves and the tank is brand new glass not second hand. I was just wanting to make sure that I wasn't being riped off lol. They do make 3ft tanks for $74 but that comes with no filter, no light and no glass lid so I don't think its worth it. BTW my husband wont' go into the brewery. He don't like speights. lol :bounce:
