Caper
Hey all I'm cleaning my apartment (walls and such). I have the upstairs done and will be starting the downstairs I am using a cleaner called Pine Sol it has quite a strong smell, wondering if this could somehow affect the fishies???? What do you think?
alanmin4304
smells are chemicals detected by your nose. Check if there are chemicals in the product which may be harmful. Should be on the label.
Caper
It is a household cleaner/disinfectant. Precautions are the usual...ah...eye irritant (if gets in eyes), harmful if swallowed, keep out of reach of children. Has the "Danger Poison" symbol on front of bottle. The only thing I can see it contains is 15% pine oil. When I start cleaning the downstairs should I cover the tanks?
mustcooktea
It is probably best to cover them Caper. I'm sure pine oil wouldn't do the fish any good! Take care MCT
HummingBird
Yeah any type of oil can go on top of the water and stop oxygen exchange.
Caryl
Just cover the tanks while you clean caper. They will be fine I am sure. We have had carpet laid (the glue stinks) the carpet cleaned (that smells!) and redecorated the room (painted and wallpapered) around the tank with no ill effects. Caper
Thank you I've just put towels over the top of the tanks...that should be ok do you think? Or do I need to cover them with something else?
