HelifaxNZ
Well, went out and got the paint. For those who wish to know, it is the Plasticote - Marine Blue spray paint. I have some black lacqueur of this brand and might experiment on my small spare tank, having the blue up the top half then fading to the black for the bottom. Then I'll get the best of both worlds!! Doc Holiday
I have been very busy latley but I have finally managed to take some picks. This is the latest addition to the tank a spotcheek surgeon and my other fish is a spotted opal unicorn tang The only other inhabitant apart from the corals is a cleaner shrimp but haven't managed to get his photo yet. Doc Holiday
so the surgeons are reef safe ???? As long as it is well feed it will leave the corals alone

Doc Holiday
im interested in having the same sorts of corals (mainly softies), what lighting have you got? p.s. tanks looking awesome! I'm just running flouros for now but will eventually upgrade to t5s or 150w halides but flouros are sufficient for softies and lps's
angelfish
what wattage fluros? how long etc, and what white to blue ratio? thanks for helping by the way
Doc Holiday
what wattage fluros? how long etc, and what white to blue ratio? thanks for helping by the way Wattage is irrelevant becuase it is dependant on tube length, my tank is 5' wide and I have 2 30" bulbs to cover the width. In all I have 6 bulbs 2 white 2 pink and 2 blue.
wasp
Pink? What's that for?

Doc Holiday
Pink? What's that for? they are left from my freshwater setup, thought I would trial them and see how they go. I think they bring out the colours better but thats just my opinion.
wasp
Interesting. Something else to try if I ever come across a tube.
suphew
Anglefish, I strongly suggest you go straight to T5 tubes and dont bother with T8's, T5's will cost a little more but put out far more light and are still useful if you go to MH lights later on to run blue tubes where as T8's will be too dim
Caper
Very nice fish and corals
angelfish
thanks suphew. (sorry about hijacking the thread  ) tanks 4 foot, been going a year with 2 fluros (1 x white, 1 x blue) and im getting a bit sick of only having zoos. i have the option of getting a metal halide pendant, but thought it might be too much lighting for the corals im wanting. Doc Holiday
Try and aim for a watt per litre which is easier achieved with T5's that should be more than sufficent for what you planning on keeping. Even though I only have a few flouros my tank is supplemented with about 3 hours of natural sunlight.
