craig
hi, beautiful little dude, haven't seen one of those here,is it a gobie or a darter? almost looks like a killie, what is it?,it's cool. shelley
limegirl
They are gudgeons, so they are from the eleotride family which includes gobies. These ones are PNG Natives, and far prettier than the gudgeons we have here in Australia. They are small fish, about 3cm max., but full of personality!!! Caper
 sorry Limegirl...I thought gudgeons might be a kind of cichlid  I really like how the dorsal fin is...ah..in 2...what would it be called when it is like that? limegirl
Caper, Don't worry - I thought they might be a cichlid the first time I saw them too!!! I can't remember what they call the split-in-two-dorsal-fin-thing - but I know it is also a characteristic of rainbowfish.
limegirl
And here is an Australian Gudgeon - Firetail Gudgeon No contest with the Peacocks, and the pic doesn't do it justice, but the orange edging to the fins gets very vibrant, and they are full to the brim with personality! Alan
southern purple-spotted gudgeon (Mogurnda adspersa) in Southeast Australia. Do a searchon that. That's a local G. What do they say about not being recognized in your own country?? Nice but. Alan
limegirl
I have seen the Mogurndas, but haven't had room for them yet! And as for not being recognised, the firetails are sold as feeder fish here in Aus, which creeps me out!
Freakyfish
Yeah some of the Gudgeons around are absolutly beautiful And limegirl is right most feeders here are firetail gudgeons though i know there are alot of different fish that i can currently get that are classified as feeders though gudgeons are the cheapest and easiest to get a hold of Brad
