nickyboi
OK so should I let this grow all over my rocks or should I treat it with chemicals? I dont like the look of poo brown rocks. However if its beneficial or I should keep it in the Malawi tank, please let me know. Cheers N
HummingBird
If I were you I wouldn't treat it with chemicals. Why not just wipe it off with a washcloth?
nickyboi
na the rocks are harder to clean than u think, the look smooth however the algae needs to be removed with a scrubber or toothbrush of some sort. If it needs to be removed or will eventually dissapear on its own, I dont mind pulling them out however im sure its only bound to come back again. HummingBird
Like Caryl said it's common in new tanks where as it will disappear on it's own once the tank gets a bit older. I've got a bit of it in a relatively new tank of mine and when it gets too bad I just use a washcloth and wipe it off.
nickyboi
I see! Cool, might need a pleco or bristlenose to assist, if they eat that brown algae
PENEJANE
I had this develop in my 2ft when it was new and it went everywhere from ordaments, gravel and my plants. Thats when I got a bristlenose in and I have never seen it come back I don't know if a bristlenose would be ok with the sort of fish you mentioned to be in the tank but I am sure others will be able to clear this up for you
misnoma
I could help you out with a bristlenose or two hundred what fish do you hav e in the tank?
polgara
If you give the tank more natural sunlight a green algae will grow instead and some malawi fish will eat it, but i dont think plecos like the green algae... they dont seem to eat it in our tanks.
