Billaney
Hi Swordtails are liverbears, breed about every 28 days if conditions are right and can drop anything from 1 to 174 fry at a time they will eat there own fry so if you want to save as many as possable , have a very well planted tank or use a breeding net/tank if you want to know anything else please ask
Oscar
Thanks for that-shes in a community tank-was hiding and he kept going to see her.We thought something was wrong so gave them a feed. She came out and keeps hanging around a bunch of weed and other fish are interested as well. Can you see the fry?
livebearer_breeder
Livebearer fry are generally quite big, as far as Tropical fish fry go at any rate. Generally if the female is coloured, her fry, or majority of the fry will have similiar colouring, so if she is orange the fry should stand out easily. If you dont have another tank to remove her into for birthing, and your tank isnt heavily planted, i wouldnt worry too much anyway, the fry stand very little chance of surviving if the above is the case. If there are anymore questions, then you should post them in the Livebearer section of the site, and we would be more than happy to help. Caryl
Have a sex ratio of one male to 3 or more females so the girls get a rest occasionally
