NZTaurus
I am new to NZ but def not to reef tanks. I plan to set up a reef tank with a few fish but mostly LPS and a few SPS. I am wondering about what brand/model of tanks are most reputable/stable here in NZ. I am not set on buying a new tank, in fact, prefer not. My last tank was a 800L display with a 900L stock tank that housed the skimmer, live rock, etc. I will want to go smaller display but I loved having the big stock tank out of site but connected -gave great stability. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Caryl
I have never bought a branded tank but had mine built by a local glazier then had the cabinet built for it. More robust than those in shops and generally cheaper. Not having bought, or built, for many years though others may have a differing opinion or suggestions. NZTaurus
Thank you for your reply. I am in the Nelson area but can travel on south island of course. Do you know any glazier on south island that makes tanks?
Caryl
I would think any glazier would make one for you. You tell them what size and they will build it. Make sure they know the appropriate glass thickness and bracing required. Ring around and ask each if they have experience building aquariums. Mine was built (in the 80's mind you) by Wayne Lucas Glass here in Blenheim but I am sure there would be someone in Nelson. Perhaps you should contact someone in the Tasman Aquarium Club for advice on the best place to go locally. I found this contact online but don't know if it is still correct; Robin Ashley [email protected] 03 544 3116
