Hi All,

Cichlidmaster

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My name is Larry - AKA cichlidmaster or CM for short.

My wife and I maintain 135 tanks totalling 3000 gallons and own and operate Cichlidmaster Cichlids in Detroit, Michigan USA.

We import and breed cichlids from Lake Malawi and Tanganyika.

I have been in the hobby 20+ years and my wife and I have been importing and breeding for the last 10 years.

Looks like a nice board and hope I can help out some!!

Bye for now....

CM

Welcome to the Fishroom CM. As you may have guessed, I am the same Caryl as Carylnz in The Community Tank. Quite a few CT members visit here and vice versa. We are becoming a well mixed community.

Just setting up my first African tank, with help from fishguts in the CT. Hope to find some yellow labs, Marliers and something blue - maybe peacocks or zebras.

Hi there Larry,

A warm welcome to you and your good wife.

Hope you find some interest here, or possibly create some more interest in the Lake Malawi and Tanganyika species.

Certainly got your hands full with 135 tanks, and it seems you've found a good lady with the same interests. (my wife is as keen as I am :)

I'm a CT member as well, and like this, it is also a great forum.

Look forward to seeing your posts.

Happy Days,

Bill (Pegasus) .... (Pegasus NZ)

Hi there Larry, I think you will become a very resorceful member as lake cichlids are very popular in NZ, Malawi cichlids are a bit more popular due to availablity but the tangs are catching up due to more varietys becoming available. A question of interest do you have frontosa? and if you do, do you breed your own or import? and what varietys? As you can tell im a front fan. Anyway welcome and enjoy the taste of NZ fishkeeping. :D

Currently I have one male front around 12" in size. This is a family "pet"

I have imported wild Mpimbwe blues in the past. I recently recieved an updated list from African Diving Ltd. and there are quite a few frontosa species available just don't know when or if I'll be bringing any in.

When I brought in the order of Mpimbwe I went large with the order...little did I know the demand for them crashed shortly afterwards.

I was stuck holding most of them for over a year prior to selling the last group.

Fronts are a funny thing in retail...either they sell like hotcakes or they don't!! No inbetween.
