polgara
Just wondering if anyone is organzing something for cichlids like rob is for the catfish.... We would love to see the spieces we already have to stay in the country and a few that are very rare to become more popular. If there is someone doing this or people that would like to help us do this with providing photos and things please let us know.
polgara
A list of the fish we have are as follows Malawi: Metriaclima (or Pseudotropheus) Estherae (orange one and a peach one) Metriaclima (or Pseudotropheus) Greshakei (Blue with orange) Cyrtocara Moorii Melanochromis Auratus Labidochromis Caeruleus Psuedotropeus Socolofi (albino) Pseudotropheus Crabro Nimbochromis Venustus American Geophagus Brasiliensis Cichlasoma Salvini Archocentrus Nigrofasciatus Aequidens pulcher Cichlasoma Octofasciatum Red-headed cichlid-cant find scientific name. Matt
I can supply photos of Apistogramma Pandurini and Apistogramma Cacatuoides if needed. I also have pictures of the common ones like Angelfish, Keyholes, Blue Rams and Discus. Cheers, Matt
herefishiefishie
Not much of a list. Then again here in aussie its not that great either. Then again plenty of people here try the old smuggle routine. The thing with NZ is the water is bloody cold, I don't think cichlids would survive there. Brrrrrrr cold.....and they allow plenty of species that could be a threat, please explain. A lady was caught at Sydney airport a couple of months ago with a home made appron with pouches under her clothes. These were full of fish in bags. Then this. http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?c=6041 Frenchy
Bluetom
So here i am again being the criminal mastermind as always. With abit more thought that work easilerly. Anybody want some rare fish at top dollar??
polgara
yeah I know what you mean, they should let more spieces of tropical fish in the country for the one reason being that most of our waterways are to cold for them. There are some awesome cichlids out there I would love to keep, exspecially some of the african ones. If no one else wants to organise getting pictures and book references for the cichlids i will happily do it if people are willing to help out by sending clear photos of ones they have with there scientific name. That way only one list is getting sent, instead of someone else having to sort through and take out all the double ups.
malawi_man
i'm happy taking pictures of all my cichlids (you have a list of what i have polgara dont you??) pseudotropheus greshakei from what have heard is now maylandia greshakei (and thats what everyone on overseas sites like cichlid-forum.com calls them. hmm we could get frontosas on the fish list again, i know some people with them. so polgara are you volunteering to organise this?? i could help a bit if needed. Alan
Herefishie, that list of fish are actually what Polgara has in her aquariums. It is by no way what is allowed into NZ. But all that could change when the fit hits the shan Alan
polgara
Could people please list any cichlids that they have already photographed and sent in. That way none of us will make double ups and make someone else's job harder.

caserole
the thing is YOU have to sign the form SO IF SOME ONE ELSE PRINTS IT, it has to be sent to you for signing, more cost. a lot of people do a little, rather then a few do a lot ps I already have around 12 forms complete, in the big picture it's nathing, but every little bit helps
