klaymann
how long can a specimen( non fish) last in a small quantity( glass size) of water saturated with oxygen ? .... anyone know? ... curious ....
Ira
Specimen of what? How big? How much water? Insulation? Ambient temp? If it's the water itself that's saturated with oxygen but with no air above it, not that long. Water doesn't hold much oxygen.

Feelers
On a feild trip to kaikoura we had small shrimps ~ 4 cms swimming in small trays and icecream containers , some lasted more than 24 hours, although many didnt make it that far. Some small things (cm or less) like nematodes last for days.

wasp
Sounds like your bet is safe cos some will go 12 hours, some won't. So you're both right / both wrong.

reef
cant see why it would not last over 36 hours or so.
petplanet
Kim (who used to run Pupuke Aquarium) had a siamese fighter that was left (by accident) in its shipping bag for two weeks, unheated. They get shipped in a cup of water max and the same volume of air. I bet you an aptasia could go a long, long, long time.
klaymann
we did a test with aipstasia ... a 20 ltr bucket half full of saltwater ... one rock about fist sized .. about 12 anemones on it ... covered with lid .. left in basement ... no light, heating, food, airation for about 9 weeks ( we actually forgot about them  ).. dragged it out .. opened lid and there where hundreds of them ... these guys are the cochroaches of the ocean .. if they grew legs and breathed air we would be in trouble .. well small children would be
