Ira
Laguna PJ5000. 6000LPH Retail $350ish.
suphew
Ehiem 1060 2500lph?? $120 secondhand
RnB
A Iwaki 40 and a 1060 for redundancy....
SteveA
Two Eheim 1060 for 5000 l/h less losses due to head and pipe resistance. They feed water to skimmer which then drains to tank.
reef
Before you can decide on a pump you need to work out the volume of your tank.
cookie extreme
iwaki 100. does my return, skimmer and water changes.
Anthony
reef and how do you do that? Ant
chimera
iwaki 55rlt, flow rate depends on head height. 4500lph @ 0ft head. anthony, what are the dimensions of your tank? height x width x depth. rate of flow back into your tank is more dependant on what sort of skimmer you are running - ie: is your skimmer plumbed into your overflow/return system or is it an in-sump model? Anthony
the tank im planning will be like a trinagle so the sides will be 900mm(long) by 450mm(high) and the front is just inder 1200mm i dont no about sump yet probly just a 600mm tank and the skimmer is an insump model
chimera
so about 180 litres then. flow rate with an in-sump skimmer is not as important as a skimmer plumbed into the overflow/return (as it is obviously directly effected - however if you had heaps of flow you can always T it off). for that size tank i would suggest an eheim 1060 or 1262 as your return. Anthony
if i buy a brand new one from marinedepot its going to cost just under $200NZD does this sound about right for the ehiem 1626 cheer Ant
Pies
why not look at an IWAKI 30/40. Second hand less than $300, new probably not much more. Not submerseable but infinatly better and more reliable. Its what i'd do (what I did). Pieman
Anthony
thats what you did pies for ur huge tank and where you needed to pump the water half the way up ur house which i dont need to do all i need to do is pump like 200L bout 1m high IF that Ant
Pies
No. Its what I did with my old tank as well. Remember your return pump also provides circulation. So if you are having a small tank, it will be infinatly cheaper to use a large return pump (Iwaki) and have it not only providing water through the sump, but providing all the circulation for the tank.
