madcookie
Hi Buzzy....I reckon better to be safe than sorry - especially with Discus..? Maybe clean all gravel (in tap water to remove toxins and crud), then introduce it a few handfulls at a time.
Caryl
If your main tank has been going for some time then adding more gravel will not cause it to re-cycle. Wash the old gravel from the old tank, since it has been sitting for 2 weeks, then carefully add it to the main tank.

BK
I've heard that Goldfish are full of Disease and can cause lots of problems at the higher temps. Would've boiled the stones myself. Currently cleaning out two old snail tanks but can't find a pot big enough. Any one with a better idea how to do this. They will be for my Discus as well. madcookie
Scrub the gravel with a (fish only) brush, rinse it, and leave it in the sun. sunlight / UV will kill most of the bacteria if the scrub doesnt. Then rinse again and add. Works for me anyway.........
