gazza
Question: Currently building a fishroom and needing to know where to get hold of glass hole drill bits, sizes 19 and 25mm for already made up tanks, as I am having trouble locating any in Gisborne. For 5mm to 10mm glass. Enough to do up to 150 tanks. Also any information on large filtration systems for a fish room containing up to 200 fish tanks of various sizes. suphew
I have seen some cheaper ones from E-bay and they would be okay for a few holes but I recon they would ware out pretty quick. It's a bit like buying trade quality tools verse home handyman, IMHO to do 150 tanks you should spend the money (about $300 I think) and get a decent drill bit. Any trade supply or glass supply should be able to get you one, most tile layers and some plumbers use them so they can't be too hard to find. freshwest
That sounds like one hell of a fishroom . I am planning one at the moment will start putting it together in August . No were near the size your building . Im looking at a total volume of 1800 l made up of 5 tanks . The idea i am thinking about with regards to filtration is to have the tanks draining into some type of gutter with segmented wiers which will run under the stand holding he tanks . The gutter will be the filter containing a range of filter materials . The gutter will run into a 200 l holding barrel (sump)and get pumped back to the tanks from there . The idea is to have 2 holding barrels connected to the pump one in use and one for water changes . So when it comes to water changes it is just a matter of opening the new barrel and dumping the other . Has anyone tryed a system like this . The principle is similar to what you find in those new tanks were the filter is in the light hood . Buy the way what kind of fish are keeping to need so many tanks
Wok
I would recommend that you should invest in a UV Sterilizer if you are using a central source of water for all your tanks. This minimizes the risk of infection spreading from one tank to the others.
Snowman
I know someone that is making uv lights, he uses them on his breeding tanks and a 35000 ltr pond, they look pretty good to. If you interested let me know how many litres and ill find out a price, heaps cheaper than the shops.
gazza
I will be looking at Uv Sterilizers for the breeding room only but not for the grow out tanks currently running two pond master 5Watt and 9Watt on some of the tanks only on for an hour a day at the moment
