lduncan
Well Redwood had a Fiji shipment out last week, picked up a nice stag (nobilis), I haven't been able to get a good photo of it, so i've searched the net and found a photo which shows the exact colour, it looks to be the same species as well: Layton
Brianemone
score, bet you where stoked to find that
lduncan
yip, got it home and put it under my lights and was really surprised at how nice it actually was. One side was browned out (probably the way it was positioned in QT, but the other was exactly the same colour as the photo. Layton
JoeBlog
I was lucky enough to get a frag and can definitely vouch for its awesome potential. I was stunned when I saw it again under Layton's lights. A truly great score!! I also made a few purchases of a couple young Acro tables just starting to go horizontal 8) and a massive stag of my own (not nearly so promising in color though ). Pies
Nice. Is the 2nd from the bottom the frag from SteveA? If so looks great! Mine is doing really well too, am more than happy with it. Go the corals.
wasp
Any of the Auckland importers ever see that stag in the first post?
reef
stag (nobilis) always comes in, however the photo has been taken under blue fluro lights so it looks different.

Brianemone
the secret society of nice acro hoarders might be to blame. has anyone ever seen what the americans call a bali slimer?? fast growing green stag
wasp
How does it look under normal lighting then?
reef
the secret society of nice acro hoarders might be to blame. I doubt that is true, More like everyone wants them for free. Bali slimer is a Staghorn coral... Bali slimer
Brianemone
thought that would get a reply ive never seen anyone on this site saying that they wouldnt pay a little extra for some really nice colours, i know i talked about it with wasp and both agreed that its well worth the money to pay a little extra for something nice. reef
that colour doesnt look like its due to the lighting Yes it is. as my staghorn does the same thing with fluro lighting.
Brianemone
do you mean the big stag on the right hand side of your tank??
lduncan
JoeBlog can confirm the colour under "normal" lighting. It was a green blue, but has since turned more towards a solid blue (losing it's greeninsh tinge). Very similar to the first picture (which was from reefermadness.us) Layton
reef
Yes it does the same thing when i have only the fluros on, but is is not that intense like the photo, hopefully layton can get a pic up. The acro that i have had in are as good as what they are in the states, the problem is keeping the colours during the 3 week quarantine is a problem, The colours do come back with good lighting and water quality. Here are some pics of my acros with nitrates over 10ppm and Po4 of .30ppm. On the high side but too low is also bad news.
Brianemone
again i come back to hat i said about the shops, everytime i visit the shops in auckland there might be one or two montis but i have never seen any thing close to the corals i know are around reef, you comparing your corals to what is available to everyone else is not really fair, the people that post their pics on RC are ordinary folk like me
