Shilpan
Hello!I will be purchasing a 400L marine tank set up soon. To help space out costs, I was thinking of using dechlorinated (with stress coat) tap water for a year. Then I would purchase a RO/DI unit a year after. In this time I want to have both fish and a few months later, corals. I live in Auckland. The tap water tds ranges from 100-170.Do you guys think this is ok? Or am I really shooting myself in the foot from the start?
livingart
You are better using the Pure Dew water that is available at super markets for topping up evaporation with, finding a local person with an RODI unit tpo supply initial waterfor byour set up if you are mixing salt will minimise the later issues with algae when cycling te systemSome excellent articles in here http://aquariumworld.nz/fish/articles-guides/tropical-marine/ to help you out Shilpan
Adrienne
Tap water in Auckland is too high in impurities to risk using. What about collecting your own, dependent on where in Auckland you live?
