kiwiraka
Listening to the radio today and they were advertising a pig hunting competition, there is a "bounty" for pigs, possums, magpies and EELS!!! I dont understand how you can legally pay people to kill our native endangered eels! Pigs, possums and magpies are all considered pests but eels!?! Benjansss
It could be Australian long dins and short fins but they are still self interdueced natives (on a side note are short fin can also be found in australia)

OAB
Found it on the Edge Northland Community Notices section. "The Mangamuka Pig Hunting contest is on again this Labour Weekend supporting Kaitaia Hospice and there are great prizes to be won for Pigs, Possums, Eels and even a bounty for the most Magpies! Tickets are only $35 and available by calling 021 0731 709." http://www.theedge.co.nz/Northland-Comm ... z3GRVBxGKx Now to figure out best approach for bad press. Unfortunately it's not a legal but a moral thing.
kiwiraka
The problem is there isnt really anything we can do about it, people involved in things like that either know and dont care or they dont know and they dont want to know. I dont understand why its legal to do that sort of thing, imagine the uproar if people started stabbing kiwis to death with sharp pointy sticks! :an!gry

JJWooble
Oh no poor eels * edit; looks like this isn't the first year they're doing it, either. These photos are on their Facebook page from 2012
