camtang
So around a month ago, my seemingly happy and healthy red lotus decided it wanted to melt away. &c:ry I had read online that if you leave the surrounding area alone they can grow back. I had a look in my tank yesterday while doing water test and what not and found this I am going to try and take a photo most days to keep track of the growth rate of it. Hopfuly this time it does not melt away on me.
redracer77
My red lotus melted a month or so ago as well, looks similar to yours now
Godly3vil
Mine do it all the time, always grow back though.
camtang
Any idea on why they do it?
Godly3vil
Not really dude, sometimes I have a few leaves just randomly melt yet the rest of the plant stays sweet.

camtang
Day 3: I also spied what looks like a second one poping it self out of the gravel. You can just see it on the right hand side, growing under the sword leaf.
Sophia
They must run on their own seasons since we don't give them those sort of fluctuations in the tank environment. My barclaya cast it's seeds and melted a couple of months or more back. Hasn't woken up again yet.
camtang
Is it just the lotus that do it, or all plants Sophia? Day 4:
Sophia
I don't know. Maybe it's the aquatic plants with corms that do it, like non aquatic bulbs die over winter and come back in Spring.

phoenix44
Good progress. Not sure if you have done this but put a JBL ball under its root and you'll be amazed at the results.
camtang
Thanks for reminding me, I thought about that when it first poped up but wanted to let it grow a little first. I shall do that today.
