African Cichlids - what have you got?

Hey guys,

I've been out of the hobby for a couple of years while going through uni. Got a tank a while back, possibly looking at getting a couple more.

Just wondering what african cichlids are available now?

At the moment I have:

Demasonis

Yellows

Taiwan Reefs

Blue Dolphins

Cuckoo Catfish

Looking to possibly get hold of in the future:

Red Empress

Tropheus Pemba

Aulonocara Jacobfreibergi

Aulonocara Hansbaenschi

Geophagous Surinamensis (bit off topic I know)

Dimidiochromis Compressiceps

Cynotilapia Afra

What new/interesting species are out there?

Keen to have a tang tank too, I'm a bit biased towards malawis because that's what I've kept in the past.

NLS as a staple, from time to time a little bit of salmon food, some chopped prawn, guppies, homemade frozen mix. The Frontosa generaly get most of these foods before the tropehus, as soon as they sense/taste the different food in the water they are over in a flash

A few fish I'm interested in that I had 5 years ago but haven't seen lately:

Dimidiochromis compressiceps

Dragon Blood Peacocks

Placidochromis electra

Are they still around?

I have some eye biter 10+cm for sell. But pick up only in Auckland...

I am still searching for good line Dragon blood...

D comps were in all the Auckland stores a few months ago chances are most still have them, there were nice adults for around $20 a fish.. Dragonsbloods should be around, unfortunately I lost my male but stripped a batch recently will be keeping most to grow out to breed from but will sell some. I have a female electra would love to find a nice male for her and breed them again.

Yeah he is an awesome specimen. Borrowed from a friend (cheers again) to improve the genetic diversity. Its a good example of what was talked about in another post regarding the effect of having a single specimen in an aquarium with little or no competition of similar species.

Bigger, stronger, brighter.
