Sayhi2steve
 Hi all. I am setting up an African Tank... Probably Malawi and am looking for rockwork to put in it, BUT am having trouble finding anything suitable. I live in Hastings Hawke Bay. Can anyone point me in the right direction to either collect or buy what I need. Thanks in advance for any Help. Cheers Steve
Caryl
Hi Steve and welcome to the fishroom You need to join the Hawkes Bay Aquarium Society. They are having a huge public Fish Display and members only auction on Labour Weekend. I am sure some of the members could help you get the rocks you need. Caryl
Check out various threads under FNZAS clubs. All the details are there. The auction is only open to club members. The Fish Display will be in the Tamatea High School hall.
Ira
You could always go to your local river and spend a few hours collecting all the free rocks you could want. Well, if it's a rocky river anyway. Or go to a landscaping supply place. You could probably get more than enough rocks for $30ish.

Sayhi2steve
Thanks Bruce. Will do that. I've been along to a couple of your meetings a year or so ago and am interested in joining. Do you still meet third wenesday of each month??? and where do you meet now the aquarium was being done up when I came along so the meeting was at the temp tanks in where the bumper boats used to be, and the other time was at the Kiwi house. Ant N
In mine I hasve , Shist, granet, slate, pumice from Taupo, Some other rocks from Taupo and coral from LFS, You can also use terracota field tiles or plant pots , almost anything to make caves. Keep the water right and the fish look after themselves. Oh , also have PVC conduit siliconed together with rocks glued all over them, BN's breeding in it now. smidey
most rockwork is available from landscaping supply companies, if you don't want to pay commercial rates then search for quarries in your area.
