reptilez
Hi, I purchased a leopard gecko hatchling which is 4 weeks old. I have had it for 2 days and i have tried to feed it mealworms and crickets. Any suggestions on how to get it to feed. Thanks in advance

alanmin4304
Is the food small enough for a 4 week old to eat?
Rabbit
Wouldn't worry a great deal yet, are the insects small enough?
reptilez
Wouldn't worry a great deal yet, are the insects small enough? Yes the other one that my friend purchased at the same time has no trouble eating the mealworms
alanmin4304
Mealworms are not their favourite food. They are movement stimulated feeders and mealworms don't move as much as mini mealworms, locusts, crickets etc. I always start mine off on very small mealworms then graduate to to other foods, that way they are not like kids brought up on icecream. Rabbit
There was a seller of "minni Mealies" on trade me but i cant find them, there believed to be a different species and are a lot more active. Failing all else wax moth larvae will get a response there heavy in fat, move a lot and tend to be happily accepted although i wouldn't continuously feed these out often.
