tandemcartshrimp
So, after many moons of waiting and researching I have FINALLY got the fish tank I wanted (bar 1 more WCMM). Photos are below, please tell me what you think and if there are any improvements I could make. The shrimp you see there are the native fresh water shrimp. I have about 7 in the tank swimming around happy as.

tandemcartshrimp
woops, cheers for that. how did you fix that?
SamH
Ninja'd by Ira Just hit the quote button on Iras post and you'll see what he wrote and how it's different to yours. There's always improvements that can be made, especially to a hex tank. They are notoriously difficult to aquascape but you've got the right idea. If it were my tank, I'd keep the front open and put the tall plants at the back.
tandemcartshrimp
My aim for the tank is as "jungle"ish as possible, so I might just try and reverse my tank. which should maintain the plants wildness and give a bit of a better view
Sophia
so you finally found some shrimp
tandemcartshrimp
indeed I did, I used google scholar to find some bio records related to iron leakage and the effect on the steam life. and cruised on down to one of the tested streams, got a net in some oxygen weed and BAM! about 5 in the first go
Sophia
cool they look quite big, either that or your camera takes a good macro photo
tandemcartshrimp
Tip to tail each is about 3cm long. They are all about the same size, so I either got lucky and found all males, in which case I should have them for quite a while or I got all females which means not so much. disgustipated
shrimp are male when they are small, then when they get big they turn into females.
tandemcartshrimp
well today is a sad day, I have found my first pink body. on a count up of the shrimp the other 6 are all still alive and seem to be doing well. they each seem to have moulted 2-3 times since I got them. Should I leave the dead shrimp in the tank (will the others slowly eat it) or take it out?
blueether
I would take it out as they smell real bad real fast
