Ira
just been wondering about this for a while, is it better to no have co2 at all than to have insufficient co2? and obviously too much is bad Since you don't need CO2 for a healthy planted tank I'd say better to have none than spend the money on a setup that's not doing the job. alanmin4304
Plants die without carbon and they usually get it from CO2 unless you add it as an available liquid. If you don't add it as liquid or gas they will get it from the atmosphere. There is no advantage in just adding CO2 without other ferts and good light. SamH
What you really need to be asking is if you have a balanced aquarium. An aquarium where the CO2 is sufficient for the strength of the lights and the amount of nutrients the plants are receiving is what's required here. May I ask what lights, CO2, etc you are running or planning on running are?
