Conaquavict
I Picked this little guy up at a lfs today for £15, The assistant didn't know what type of pleco it was, but i think it might be a gold nugget, hope i'm right. Sorry the fish was in the bag when i took the pics, but i knew it would go into hiding for a while once released, And i was right, i have'nt seen it since, lol

CatBrat
Wow, only £15!!!! Great find! Is that the normal price for nice plecos over there? I'm pretty sure that it is a Gold Nugget Pleco. To me it doesn't look like a species of Ancistrus (bristle-nose). How big is it? Cheers, CatBrat.

It is about 3" and I thought that £15 was expensive for a pleco, But it is a really pretty fish, the pics don't do it justice. The most that i have seen a pleco sold for over here was £85 for a zebra pleco.

guppylover2
i have actually bought a gold nugget from animates in new zealand for $190 NZD, and your fish looks exactly like mine. good deal! apparently there are at least 3 different varieties of gold nuggets, and one is more hardy than the other 2 (who are not very hardy). i'm hoping mine is the more hardy type. has done well so far. by the way, mine went into hiding in the quarantine tank the entire time, hid in a decoration, but as soon as i put the decoration with him in it in the catfish tank i had set up, he came out and has been my most social catfish except for my bristlenoses. here's hoping my gibbies will be a bit more social

If this is NOT a test  , you need to take more pic's, strait down, the mouth and belly.Would it be better if you asked this Q at planet cat fish?. No, not another test caserole, that was a one off prank. I will try and get more pics up for you, but at the moment I am only catching glimpses of it. BTW...what do you guys feed to your Gold nuggets? I read somewhere that they are not to fond of algae, but that they like cucumber/courgette and bloodworms. Thanks for any feedback.
