ZombieFish
If i buy some fluvial mini co2 canisters form the states, are they allowed to be shipped here?
Li@m
Probably not, since they would be shipped by plane. Pressurised Canister + Plane flighing at high altitude not a good combination.
ZombieFish
hmm thats what made me wonder. the other thing i was wondering - if i buy the Hagen Nutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System from there (cheap as) can i just use my own mix of yeast sugar and water in it? I would DIY a co2 but i have a feeling a certain 3 year old of mine may make that plan fail epically -and prefer the look of it over diy too. Li@m
Why not use A Soda Stream CO2 system. Use the search function, there is a lot of information. This system will be cheaper in the long run compared with the Hagen Nutrafin Co2 system.

You'll get sick of buying those stupidly expensive canisters that run out in about a week and the Nutrafin system isn't pressurised, it's just fancy DIY CO2 really. Sodastream system will run you up about $85 for the regulator, $40 for the adaptor and $30 max for the bottle. $12 bi monthly refills (depending on how much you use of course). What tank is this for? Are the adaptor and regulator ok to use on bigger bottle systems?
SamH
Are the adaptor and regulator ok to use on bigger bottle systems? The regulator should fit directly on to bigger bottle systems without an adaptor. Talk to Godly about that one.
ZombieFish
its only a little nano planted tank - so doesn't really need to be fancy or pressurised. Id only considered the fluvial because i found it for $20USD. I really don't have any room in my budget for canisters looking at it long term really. I use a lot of yeast and sugar in bread making anyway - so its not like those are an extra cost for me, where as canisters are - so really DIY or the Nurtafin are better options. the Nutrafin system was going to be 40 something NZ including postage, which is only a little more than id spend buying stuff for diy anyway, and its a whole lot more preschooler investigation and accident proof. Just DIY it, don't bother with the Fluval so called "pressurised" system.
